Livin’ and Lovin’ La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.
How time flies when you’re having fun! Chris, needing a great big break, took me on the trip of a lifetime; nine months sabbatical in sunny Mexico! Who knew we’d move to a land far far away and still be living here and ten and a half years later? La Cruz de Huanacaxtle drew us in with its fine folks, fabulous food, magnificent music, and ya that wonderful weather and those secluded beaches were a factor too!
Boosting La Cruz is always our passion, in times of COVID 19 it’s ‘muy importante’ very important. All over the world folks are without work and doing their best to get by. The same goes for La Cruz. Chris and I started our mission, Sunday night concert’s to raise money for The La Cruz Food Pantry which feeds 400 +/- families per week.
Thanks to all of you for helping us surpass our goal of feeding the families in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle for MORE than one month. Bravo to all.
Learn more about the La Cruz Food Pantry here.
Please follow along as each week I’ll add all the places we share on the Live broadcasts; Including Art Galeries, Restaurants, Musicians and more.

Excursions:
Read about the great tour guide Chuck Medina.
On our May 24th Livin and Lovin’ La Cruz Facebook Live we talked about sea turtles in our Beautiful Banderas Bay. We’re told the Olive Ridley Sea Turtle is most common. I love seeing them when I paddle. You can read more about them here.
A series of books that were INCUBATED here in little ole La Cruz by Sherilyn Decter. I’m thoroughly enjoying ‘Gathering Storm’ right now.
Mexican words;
¡Órale!
Used to convey amazement, approval, enthusiasm. Wow.
Chido
Mexicans love to use “chido” to describe something cool, or with good vibes. It can be used with people, objects or situations.
Tocayo
Nickname given to anyone who shares your first name.
Interesting;
Tacos Al pastor
Tacos al pastor (from Spanish, “shepherd style”) is a taco made with spit-grilled pork.
Tacos al pastor were created in the 1930s in Puebla, Mexico, by Lebanese immigrants who introduced the region to classic shawarma: roast lamb served on a flour tortilla or pita bread (pan árabe). This creation was originally known as tacos árabes
Based on the lamb shawarma brought by Lebanese immigrants to Mexico, al pastor features a flavor palate that combines traditional Middle Eastern spices with those indigenous to central Mexico. Read more about that here.
